My thoughts on wordpress blogging
As you can see I’ve changed my blog’s design theme. I think this theme is somewhat less intimidating than the other one. lol
The other theme had a lot of buggy issues that I’m just not smart enough to resolve. Try as they might the wp support couldn’t help me either. ~sigh~ I really like wp’s support forum too.
Anyway, I searched for many days until I found this design theme. Fortunately, it only had one minor buggy issue and I managed to fix it with the guidance of a wp support person. Cool!
For now, I’m happy with this theme. I’m still tinkering with colors of fonts and stuff. I’m still learning whats-what in the code thing and I mess up often. lol but I re-upload the code and start over and try again.
If you come by and the blog is down, wait a few minutes and come back, because I usually get it back up and running quite quickly. If you have any problems reading, posting or navigating my blog, give me a holler and I’ll ‘try’ to fix the problem.
I really enjoying my new blog. I’ve learned some things that may be of interest to folks thinking about getting a wordpress blog.
There’s a couple of versions of wordpress: wordpress.com & wordpress.org…
(and there’s a paid version, but I don’t know anything about it)
The free public blogs are through wordpress.com. It offers really nice features.
The wordpress.com version offers 70 themes, and unfortunately they don’t allow the members with the public free-version to upload & use the thousands of free wp themes on the net…
I don’t know about their paid members though.
I read about the themes and the public free-version on their help forum.
The version of the wordpress blog that I’m using is through http://wordpress.org. It’s a free version offered through my paid-webhost. I’m hosting it on my honeyoaks website under my grayruby domain name.
The top reason for my deciding to use a wordpress blog was being able to have a ‘category’ for my different types of posts. The categories is so nice and keeps my posts more orderly.
In the short time I’ve had this New blog I’ve already got over 150 hits from people looking for info through Google.
Google usually links to the specific post of the info and so far I’m usually on the first page of Google listings too. Cool!
The one part about my WP blog that I like best is knowing that if I can’t afford my website account next year, I can ‘export’ my blog to a public wordpress.com blog, minus the theme, but with all my posts & comments in tact.
I welcome any questions you may have about a wordpress blog. I’m still new at this so my experience is limited, but I’ll try to answer or find the answer for you as best as I can.
Wishing you all Happy Blogging!!!
